Smokey Robinson and The Miracles:Going To A Go-Go
Featured in Michael Fremer's Heavy Rotation in the November 2009 Issue of Stereophile!
Smokey Robinson had a real talent for making music which reached out to the masses without sounding mass-produced. The rhythm-and-blues musician from Detroit, who in later years even became Vice President of Motown Records, made no secret of his patent recipe for climbing the career ladder: for one he presumed that the shorter the record the more often it would be played, and he wrote lyrics which always told a short but complete story.
